Happy Hump Day!!! yes you have all survived Monday, Live through Tuesday and finally made it Till today with your eyes on the price for FRIDAY!!!
So yes, Congrats for making it so far and not ramming your car into the back of the jerk driving ahead of you, for not cursing at the cyclist who jumps out of nowhere. For not following through with your half-hearted plan to apply all forms of the F-BOMB on your boss when you got to work on Monday Morning and for making it so far while staying through to your sense of style and self.
Yes, I just had to dedicate that to these past few days. But anyway; My real point being that Yester-Week (Last week). I went to my first ever bloggers event called Blogger’s Block. Yes How could i not finally make it to one when it was LITERALLY downstairs. I mean it was in the Restaurant right off my Apartment. So While i ran around during the day. The event started at 7.00 pm; i didn’t make it until after 9 p.m. didn’t even have the time to rearrange my crazy look from running around all day. So i missed the show and i guess a few other things. And it seems i couldn’t do with my Pasquale heels and H&M clutch. I can’t seem to help it being so comfortable and stylish too.
Still i got to meet some fun people and YES I finally met Another Nigerian Girl here in Miami. I was ecstatic (Tehehe). I don’t know if she could tell that i was so happy. But i felt like bouncing off the wall with Joy. So Her name is Evelyn and she is actually the Founder of Ankara Miami; and also hosting the Annual show coming up on the 23rd which is Saturday. I was so happy to meet her in case you can’t already tell from what you have read so far. Before i met her i actually had the event bookmarked (And if you know me i never bookmark anything). I was not going to miss the opportunity to meet other Africanas like moi. Anyway and who doesn’t love Ankara?
Okay, So i also met Courtney from 365voice she was so sweet and confident.
And in my excitement at meeting Evelyn, I went over to talk to one of the boutique owners Tiffany Chimere. She has super bedazzled shoes. So if that is your thing; you might like her store. I digress; When she gave me her business card. I even got more excited cause i saw “CHIMERE” a very typical Nigerian; and to be exact Igbo name. So i asked her if she was maybe possibly Nigerian and even maybe Igbo. Well, i think if you read up to this point you already figured out she was not and not even close. Anyway she explained where her Mom got the name. And we talked some more so that was fun.
Ah then i met Christini Calia a blogger (BLOG). She was Larger than life. I mean she was incredibly tall
( have height envy). But that is not what i was talking about. Her fashion that night was Larger than life itself. So experimental. I loved her pants and i think i forgot to tell her i loved the hair too. She was so bubbly and nice. She was hilarious and made me feel super comfortable.
Then i moved over to the little dessert table. I actually had to have someone convince me to give the little treats a try. After-all how could I imagine that a peanut-butter red velvet cake could be so awesome. At first i was like (hmmm nah). But then i figured what could it hurt. The cakes were really tiny bites anyway. So i tried one, and one turned to two and two turned to three, four and so on…. I even took a seat at the desert table (INSERT JUDGMENTAL FACE HERE). So i came to find out the desert maker was Jessica Altuve from Choco Chica .
So, while i was bulldozing through the tiny deserts without shame. I met a guy named Chris and he introduced me to Angela M.Guy the President of Dezign Nation. He also introduced me to a couple of different people. Kissed my hands in a very gentlemanly manner (Yes Chivalry) but i had to go.
On my way out again he stopped me and introduced me to a few more boutique owners one of them being the owner of a New Boutique called “I 4 TRENDS”. She was so sweet and soft-spoken. We talked and she told me about her New boutique.
Finally As i made my way out, i sopped to speak to Tia Torres from Miami model citizen. She was so smiley and chatty i feel like we became friends on the spot. I actually forgot i was headed out for a while until my phone started vibrating.
I eventually made my way out and said my good-byes. All in all it was a fun experience and it is always good to meet new people Hermit or not.
Thanks for peeking in Xoxo Chioma
